After I put my hood vents in I went the junkyard and got a distributor boot off a late 80s mustang gt. I think Ford also used them on the big cars with v8s. So far it has kept the distributor dry. I also use an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel, the jig saw just wanted to buckle the metal.
When I did mine I used a jigsaw with a metal cutting blade. It didn't hurt the metal in any way and the edges weren't even sharp. Not to mention you could cut right around a corner with it. And it was fast.
Mid 80s Ford escorts had distributor boots as well. I dont think it matters how many cylinders. The Escort boot just had one big hole for all the wires to exit.
Looks great man, the sawzall is a great cutter, but a little unruley with the cuts, LOL, i would have chose the jig too...but nice work, and great idea for the magnets....
