Slip yoke travel

How far does the rear slip yoke travel when put through a complete rear suspension cycle? Say on a older style 231 with internal slip yoke

If you're worried that the yoke might come out, the answer is probably not--your shocks will probably stop the axle from dropping that far. If you want to know how much your yoke travels, you need to cycle your suspension. There are too many variables for anybody to guess.

I've ran both at 3" and had no issues bump stopped on 33's. Including jumping it a few times.

Yeah you should find an 8.25 driveshaft. The D35 has a short pinion (smaller ring gear, and smaller housing), so they used a longer driveshaft. And the YJ slip yoke with the longer ears is adding to it as well.

With only 2" lift, you would be good with a stock 8.25 driveshaft from the same generation. The YJ yoke is probably not needed, but probably not hurting anything either (better articulation)
