Before I start grinding away, does anyone have set-up bearings for the Dana 30 carrier and pinion that they would care to loan to me. I'm happy to post a deposit for their safe return. Or for that matter, I'd be happy to buy yours if lending is not your thing.

Um, if you don't know what I'm asking for, you ain't got 'em.

Thanks, I'm off to run my brake cylinder hone for a few hours.

not cheap for a 1 off install but this kit covers the carrier and the pinion bearings and should work:

Summit Racing also sells just the carrier bearing setup but it doesn't appear to be in stock:

Note, the standard ID for a DANA30 carrier bearing should be 1.625 (according to: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=9839560) the Auburn bearings from Summit are 1.634 which should be perfect.

I do have a differential spreader that I would sell but it is heavy so shipping won't be cheap.....

Thanks for the excellent on point answer. I spend lotsa time making my own set -- two bearings for the carrier and one for the pinion depth one. I think they'll work.

For what its worth, you are doing this the best way. I replaced my rear carrier (moved to a limited slip) and thought I might get lucky so since the original carrier was shimmed on the outside of the bearings, I pressed my new ones on and crossed my fingers. Unfortunately, it was WAAAYYY off. At that point I could have either tried to remove the bearings or find some new shims. Fortunately, I found a guy on eBay who had collected a really wide range of shims and sold them as a lot. Using these, I was able to dial it in for a reasonable price. I bought the spreader to make it easier.

Differential work is more art than science. It will feel great when you get it done!
