Rep. Joe Wilson

God gave you the ability to speak. He got a ton of publicity for saying it and time will tell how that treats him. If this healthcare bill passes and 10 years from now everyone hates it and see's that Obama did lie then he will be remembered as a hero.
You brought it up, but the Bible teaches you to control your tongue, saying it is sharper than any two edged sword. Great blessings and great curses can result from the words that pass your lips.

So God may have given us the ability to speak, but He has also given us the responsibility to be careful what we say, not just to spout off whenever our emotions get the better of us. Speaking of which we are also to reign in our emotions for emotions can lie and the heart is deceitful.

I think Wilson was out of line, but that doesn't mean I support Obama or his plan.

I can understand that Wilson was out of line but with what Obama is trying to do, I don't understand why everyone in Congress and the entire country isn't yelling at Obama. I have no more doubts about Obama's agenda and the time to be politicialy correct or remain quiet is over.

Except that making an a$$ of yourself doesn't help the cause. Within 12 hrs or so of the speech, his opponent for the 2010 race received over a half million dollars in campaign contributions to try to help unseat him. If he's that passionate about it all, wouldn't he better be able to fight it if he's still in office?

Here's the deal, President Obama put his word on the line right out there in front of everyone on TV and radio last night. He stated that the death thing for elderly was untrue, laughable & synical was what comes to mind.

This logic supports your position, IF you believe what Obama said to be true.....and because you have facts and data to confirm the accuracy of his statements.

Now I didn't read the health care package -Why not? I don't have a law degree and I have read and understand it. How can you be in favor of something that you clearly don't understand, because "Obama said so"?

I believe this country needs health care reform.

Agreed, but what Obama is proposing is not reform. It is the staged, calculated, complete takeover of the healthcare industry. It won't happen overnight, but by design, it will happen.

Do you agree with what Wilson said? I read about how his opponent instantly received all the campaign contributions but what about all the people who agree with what Wilson said? Like the ones who started this thread.
Like I said before, time will tell how this works out for Wilson.

Political Correctness was designed by Progressives. (BTW, Progressive is PC for Marxist)

PC is a ideological disease...........if it looks like $hit and smells like $hit, don't call it chocolate pudding or you'll soon be eating a bowl of "chocolate pudding" and being told to like it.

Obama already owns two car manufacturers and several Banks.

Communistic Health care will ruin the US economy. If all doctors get paid the same wages each day, the quality of care will diminish not increase. Fewer people will receive reatment in a timely manner. Hell, just fo to the Post Office, or the Drivers License facilty. Do any of those lazy asses care how quickly they work or the quality of servic they giive? I am sure there are a few, ut it is a small few.

Some sort of universal health care is necessary. An ad hoc approach leaves too much room for people to fall through the cracks.
A universal system protects everybody, the class system that is now in place leaves portions of the population susceptible to rampant plagues and plethora of lesser illnesses, both chronic and pandemic. Untreated illness can be a breeding ground in a population, that likely has daily contact (directly or indirectly) with you and your children.
Some way has to be found for everybody to receive timely and competent health care or most everybody is at risk.
You can call it socialism or you can call it self preservation. The world is too small of a place to allow rather large portions of the population to be marginalized and ignored long enough to breed an unstoppable version of the next great plague.
The question is whether you think the reactive approaach is better way of dealing with the probability, than the proactive approach.
Germany and many other countries have universal coverage, they made it work. While not perfect, it does function as least as well as the existing system in the U.S. In many respects better. I carry an insurance card with a condensed version of my medical history in a magnetize strip. All of my vaccinations and major medical history. Sure cuts down on redundant treatment, most any doctor can pick up where the last one left off, without starting from zero all over again, or having to phone all over creation for a medical history. It's paid for by a straight percentage of your income, much like income tax. There is even a plan for those who want to opt out of the base system and buy private insurance.
IMO the U.S. is really behind the curve on this one and needs to figure out a way to play catch up. Ad hoc health care IMO, seems wasteful and dangerous.

As far as Wilson's comments go, he seemed to be calling a spade a spade. Politicians lie, it's what they do for a living.

8mud,
I don't completely disagree with your comments, and appreciate your thoughts. What we have now is not acceptable. We still have the best damn healthcare in the world...paying for it is another matter. Taking the free market out of the equation is not acceptable as well. Having a government healthcare along side with fee market healthcare won't work. Go'vt care dosen't need to make a profit and the free market companies will be squeezed out in a matter of time. I'd like to see the government give us debit cards that can be used for deductibles, co-insurance, medication and over the counter meds etc. meanwhile, let the free market insure country-wide, not justr state by state. You can go to Hartford and get Auto Home and Life why not Healthcare too? I'd also like to see the gov't put together a pool for pre-existing conditions, Cancer and other major healthcare expense problems. we can pay for that pool with taxes, those people deserve it most.

btw, I think Obama should apologize for lying to the country and causing Joe Wilson to explode!

My problem does not lie with Joe Wilson's comment, but rather his apology afterwards. If you are going to say something, stick behind it!! It is the same spineless crap from all of them, balls one minute and whipped pups the next. Throughout his presidency Obama has tried to instill a sense of fear among his detractors, and the instant apology is good evidence that it is working.

And on a second note, of course Obama's health care plan is ridiculous, we all know it, and so does he. It is the age old strategy; if you want a million dollars, ask for 5 and come down. Then, once you have your foot in the door you can expand however you see fit.

His apology I think was actually pretty good. He said, basically, while I stand by my sentiment, the timing was wrong, and I apologize for that.

I say, survival of the fittest. Pure and simple animal instincts/behavior.

6 billion people in this world already - which is at least 1-2 billion too many....

But....if you want to start somewhere, then start with fixing the reason malpractice insurance is so damn high - which is why doctors have to charge so much (just to stay in business). Quit letting people sue doctors over an operation that the INDIVIDUAL asked for, and then when everything doesn't go perfectly, sue the doctor for "pain and suffering" to the tune of $400 million.

Malpractice is an intentional or deliberate thing, IMO - or severely careless/reckless. Choose your doctor wisely and don't blame someone else when the procedure YOU needed/wanted done didn't go perfectly.

Item #12 - take care of yourself. If you smoke/drink/eat shitty food all your life, then get sick/fat/whatever, you only have yourself to blame. Something like 2/3 of this country is overweight/obese. Don't expect the government to take care of you if you can't take care of yourself.

As for paying for it based on income, much like income tax - that would be a great idea, except for the fact that 50% of this country's citizens pay ZERO taxes (this doesn't include the millions of illegals who don't pay taxes, yet receive benefits) - so I find it hard to believe that all of the sudden, half the country is going to be asked to pay for something on their own. That's not the way of the Democrat....

One thing, many illegals DO pay taxes, just under someone elses SS#, I know that first hand, my number was used for two different jobs out west and my SS account took a jump that year, then the feds pulled it back out. They make a few billion a year off of illegals paying taxes.
