Yes I've tried it. If you have a small leak, (tiny) it should do the job but for how long I don't know. Also I don't know what you pay for it but with a discount I pay less than $10 for a can. If you don't have a charging hose yet spend the extra money and get the one with a gauge. If you can borrow a hose than it will cost you around 10$ to try, What do you have to lose.
