power steering pump/pulley help needed

Yeah, you bought the wrong puller

Look at the center of your pulley and you'll see a small inner lip. You need to pull that. If you pull the outside lip you'll bend/warp the pulley.

Look for a power steering pulley puller. Some of them are small things that slip over the hub, some of them are three-jaw things with very small cleats that grab the ring.

nope - right puller... best money spent had it removed within 5 minutes and the pulley is now installed on the pump. Plus the FS Manual shows it...

96+ have a different power steering bracket and mounting procedure than pre 96. They added the holes in 96 for a reason. Using the pully without holes on a pump going into a 96+ would make it impossible to install the pump onto the vehicle.

Pre 96 you'd be fine with the pully with no holes.

Also I'd feel more comfortable using the OEM pully rather than a pully with "China" stamped on it.

Wow! Glad your puller worked. Does the FSN say anything about how many times the pulley can be re-used? Crown Vic book says to mark it with paint marker so that others will know it has been reused once. They say to only reuse it once, but mine was so tight that seems like overkill.
