oddly optioned xj's

i just picked up a dark blue with red pinstriping 84 cherokee pioneer 2door, 4cyl, 5spd, 4x4 with 4.56 gears, limited slip rear axle, disconnect front axle with cv joints, rear wiper, am/fm radio, air conditioning, stock towhitch, dark blue interior with lowback front seats, digital clock, aluminum turbine wheels, and no center armrest console. don't know how rare that is, but i think it's a pretty neat little ride, especially for $200

Pics?

Hell, I'd pay that for just the front axle. I say you got a good deal.

x2 on the pics.

One of my xj's is a 2 door 98 4-cyl 5 speed 2wd, Its an SE with crank windows and has power mirrors also. I though that was weird too.
I'll throw in my opinion about POWER MIRRORS on late Cherokees.
'97+ have one piece side windows (no split to fit a vent window), the bigger window may have taken up the space through the door edge used for the manual mirror mechanism.

Doesn't seem to have taken it up in my case, the small triangular plastic panel that covers the spot the mounting bolts come through is where the manual mirror control was located. I generally didn't use the manual controls though because they didn't give me enough range of motion from age/corrosion, I usually stick my hand out the window and push the mirror itself.

That's where I put the late model tweeters. Takes up the space where the manual remote adjusters were in my '92.

there's the link to my 'new xj' thread. there's a couple pics there.
i forgot to mention the strange gauge combo mine has....

P9220550.jpg

it has the gas gauge where the tach should go, and an AMC logo where the gas gauge should go, and the voltmeter, oil pressure, and temp gauges are all where they live on most of these style gauge clusters that don't have idiot lights. it's the only one i've seen like this, anyway....

how do you get this info?

it has the gas gauge where the tach should go, and an AMC logo where the gas gauge should go, and the voltmeter, oil pressure, and temp gauges are all where they live on most of these style gauge clusters that don't have idiot lights. it's the only one i've seen like this, anyway....

The one I had in my '85 which was a 5 speed 2 door with the V-6 just like yours was set up:

upper left...temp guage
lower left...AMC logo
Center left...fuel
Center right...speed
upper right...oil pressure
lower right...battery voltage

Isn't this what you have?

You want one? I got one....come get it....shows about 133,000 or so. Worked perfectly when I pulled it out of the Jeep.

I'm in Brentwood.

My dad has a 99 WITH Cruise, manual locks and windows NO tilt
My buddy also has a 99 With tilt, power doors and locks, and NO CRUISE. Just weird that both lack something very standard.

My 87 Pioneer had that gauge setup. I'm not sure whether it was a Pioneer feature or bundled with some other option. That Pioneer was an odd one, with no AC, no power anything, but with cruise, tilt wheel, opening vent windows, interior light options including mirrors, footwells and map lights, and a few other things, so I never quite figured out what features came with which packages.

By the way, if you've not run low on gas yet, don't be surprised when the AMC logo turns into a low gas light.

yeah, i haven't gone that low on fuel yet, but i have seen the outline of a gas pump there. not sure if mine will even work, but that is a neat little attention to detail thing that you didn't see on the chryco jeeps
