Noise while turning (low speed)

U-joint bends just as far in a right turn as a left turn. That is not a likely culprit. Look for rubbing spots on the tires from anything it could hit when cranked over hard left.

x2, look at the LCA for tire scrubbing, if it is there, adjust the steering stops.

listen to winterbeater. the sound is normal with the tight XJ turning radius. you can fix it with new tires.
