As long as it doesn't grenade, jam up, and lock the wheels up going 70MPH down the highway in heavy traffic you may be OK.
Seriously, there is a reason not every shop installs gears, it takes special tools and know how to do correctly.
If not setup properly BAD things can happen! Do yourself, and all those driving near you, a favor and get it fixed properly.
