Need help ASAP! Rear U-Joint swap stopped in tracks

I had a nasty vibration from the rear end and am currently in the middle of a rear U-joint replacement.

Easy question.

I got the stock U-joint unbolted from the rear but I cant get the damned thing out of the rear shaft. Do I just need to beat on it with a BFH or what? Thanks guys!

It can be done with sockets and a hammer. I like to use a bench vise or balljoint tool that can be borrowed at autozone.

Now I just cant attach the shaft with the U-joint back to the rear. Is there something im missing?

did you check the splines?? most of the time they are keyed....you'll see all of your splines, then it will seem like 2-3 of them are missing. That's the keyed section. It's going to be a game of trial/error to get the keyed parts to line up correctly

and if it's just that the u joint wont line up perfect with the yoke, disengage the e brake and jack up the rear and spin thje yoke till it does...or you could put the t case into N and spin the shaft itself.
