yeah, i'm really new here, and i just found out about this trail system... it hasn't been closed down or anything has it? i was reading about it on southernjeeps.org and they said that the trails should reopen sometime in 2005... a little bit outdated, to say the least. thanks, guys!

The anderson creek ohr is closed and probably will be closed for ever. You can still ride on the surounding area. There are miles of forest roads back there buy nothing to hard, There is also I nice primitive campgroung back there.

weak... so are there any other areas around cumming/dawsonville for 'wheelin'? my xj is pretty much stock (3" with 31s, open) but i'd really like to be able to take it out...

It's a little bit of a drive, but there is Beasley Knob ORV area just outside of Blairsville, GA. http://www.fs.fed.us/conf/rec/ohv/beasley.shtml

My club (Georgia Bounty Runners) http://www.gbr4wd.com/ is the adopt-a-trail club for the area. Not a good place to ride when wet though IMHO and you don't want to ride it alone (I know...common sense stuff). Forum http://www.gbr.jeepbuilders.com/forum/index.php

Anderson Creek has been up and down on the USFS hit list for at least 5 years. As far as I know, it is still up in the air, but it doesn't look very promising. http://www.andersoncreek.org/ Tellico is again on the hot seat too. Looks like a lot of letter writing is in order to offset the efforts of the over-zealous "greenies" who want to shut every place down that we can ride :(
