I've got a small case (125 mm or 4 7/8ths) alternator in my 92, planning to upgrade to the large case (137 mm or 5 3/8ths) alternator used in 97 and up models.
Will the 2 alternator supporting brackets from a 97-01 XJ fit an older engine block? This transplant will eliminate the destructive grinding needed to clearance the larger alternator case.
Thanks up front for any ideas, this is a bitch of a problem when you live in an apartment, and vehicle maintenance is not allowed. I can't create a lovely shower of sparks and wield a BFH without getting in deep shit!
