Keeping my XJ cooler...

There was a post a while back that a link to a website where someone had taken material (thermal double stick stuff, it's technical term)from Summit Racing and had positioned it under the hood all over the place to keep from overheating. Does anyone have a clue what I'm talking about(sometimes I don't know what I'm trying to say)?

I've seen Marcus's website @ gojeep, that isn't what I'm talking about, definately is a site worth checking out though, if you haven't already. I have a transcooler, hood vents, and am going to do the fan conversion next, any other ideas?

Feel free to chime in whenever you'd like to.

Thanks,

-Dan

Willing to try anything to keep my XJ cooler...

Convert both fans. Go electric from your mechanical and replace your auxillary with a newer 97" (much more CFM) and use overide switch. Might also consider hi-flow water pump and t-housing. Makes a huge differeance. Also, what t-stat temp rating are you?

Does anyone know of a post that shows/discribes this dual fan conversion? I'd like to change to this be summer gets here, not to mention the extra HP from loosing the fan clutch.

Here are some sites I somewhat followed and added my own personal tweaks.

http://www.off-road.com/jeep/cherokee/98/06_jun/cooling/cooling1.html
http://www.angelfire.com/my/fan/electric.html

I used the Flexalite 110 kit from Summit Racing, found a 97' newer auxillary fan that offers a lot mor cfm at a pick-n-pull and used summits temp guage to innitaite aux fan at any desired set temp.

Also used Hesco's Hi-flow pum and t-housing. Run a 170 stat during summer. My engine runs great with enough heat for performance but "never gets hot. You could probably get by with 180, but I like to pull mine hard on upgrades. Heat is never been an issues since these mods.

Its not '97+ that has the newer style fan. My '95 has the same fan.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of. I waisted a lot of time and probably spent to much for my fan. Oh well, at least I qam not running hot anymore.
