How to check for a cracked header?

The crack is usually visible next to a weld.

Do an image search for Jeep 4.0 cracked exhaust manifold and there are plenty of examples.

No, your just hearing green paint. :roflmao:

That is what happened when the P.O. worked on the poor vehicle while drunk and/or stoned. You will probably find all sorts of interesting things as you work on that XJ.

As to the header being cracked, the odds are very good that it is.

The odds are also very good that your motor and trans mounts are shot. Unless you see shiny new motor/trans mounts (highly unlikely, but it has probably once happened to someone) I would strongly recommend you plan to replace those too. The driver side motor mount will be easier to replace while the intake/exhaust are out of the way.

You have a 95 xj, hence 95% chance of cracked header. My 95 has been welded and cracked again twice.

Yup. I was gonna say does your XJ Header exist? If so it is likely cracked.

Pour some Seafoam down the TB. It will smoke like crazy and come out any leak.
