HO vs. Non HO

Whats the diff between the HO and no HO blocks? Can you use a non HO block in a HO that popped?

The deal is, a guy I know has a ZJ with the I6 and he toasted it, he can get a runnning non HO pretty cheap....wants to know if it'll work.

The block will work, although technically it's not legal. The non-HO was only through '90 and the ZJ came out in '93. You're not *supposed to* use an older engine than the year of vehicle manufacture. (Just had to mention that).

The heads are different, but if he re-uses the ZJ head and manifolds, they will mate up to the older block just fine.

He'll also need to swap his flywheel onto the "new" engine. The non-HO used the Renix computer, and that had a different type of CPS. The non-HO flywheel won't trigger the newer CPS correctly.
