Im having a couple weird issues with my 97 sport. This is a 4.0/AW4 rig, anyway these issues occured out of the blue and at the same time while leaving work today. First issue I noticed was its 1200rpm idle,Secondly I notice it falls on its face when giving it any fair amount of gas from a stop but runs decent at speed with light acceleration. I also noticed the temp. gauge on the dash to be inop (all other gauges working fine). No vacum leaks and No CEL. Thoughts?

Thinking maybe an intake leak for the high idle/stumble.

I had a similar problem recently. O2 sensor was shot and MAP sensor line was cracked. Also did cap rotor and plugs. Runs like a top now.

Suspect TPS for the high idle/ stumble. Backprobe signal wire, dead spots?

For the temp gauge concern- clip a standard (non-LED) test light to ground, probe end into the gauge connector. This should get a slow sweep of the gauge.
