Greetings all,
My daughter's 99 XJ started showing signs of alternator failure -- intermittent low voltage, etc. I've checked the usual stuff so I'm trying to remove the alternator for a bench check but am having serious issues getting to the bottom mounting bolt. It's equipped with a factory skid plate which is making access from the bottom nearly impossible. I think I can get at it from above if I pull the fan assembly including the shroud. Does anyone have any other tips on alternator removal from this '99?
Of course, trying to get this done in 32* weather isn't helping. TIA!
