got an idea, just gotta fix it

my tranny has been acting wierd for a while now.

-felt like it was slipping during take off and made loud tick

thought it was something to do with tranny or torque converter, took the jeep to a tranny specialist today and he drove it for two seconds and said either motor or tranny mount ...which now makes perfect sence becuase it vibrates allot too.

so what are the best ways to diagnose(wether its motor or trans) and repair this. i have priced out each; motor mount is gunna be $13.10 and tranny mount is $22.93( i get 60% below list at my local parts shop)

What year, and how many miles on your Jeep? Seeing as how you're in Maine, you obviously have more of a rust issue due to salt than in other parts of the country. If you have an older model Jeep, it might not be such a bad idea to go ahead and replace them all. It could eliminate your problem, plus give you peace of mind that they're brand new and you shouldn't have any more trouble out of them for a long time to come.

edit: I just saw your user name, and i'm betting you have a 96??..lol
 
its 96 4.0 aw4 173k on the ticker

would it be easier on me to just take it somewhere and have them all replaced, i go to school and work full time i dont have much time to work on my jeep, how much would i be looking at to get these changed? what about just the motor mount?

how long would all three take if i did it myself? do i ahve to drop the tranny to get that one over the cross member? is this a couple hour thing or like a 15 hour thing?

is it ok to drive it but just go easy on it for maybe a week or so?
