Good deal on 00-01 Walker downpipe/cat converter

Advance autoparts is currently selling Walker 52304 downpipe/cat converters for 00-01 cherokees for $169 when they are regularly $219.......thought I would let everyone know in case anyone needs a new one like I did.

Yeah, so I went to separate the downpipe/pre-cat assembly from the front pipe. I was going to try and get away with keeping the stock manifold and downpipe/pre-cat assembly and just increase to 2.5" exhaust from there but the flange completely broke/crumbled off. I used that as an excuse to figure on the manifold being the same way and I ordered a Clifford Performance Header. I never separated the manifold from the other end of the downpipe /pre-cat assembly so I couldn't tell you. However, I am almost positive it would end in a similar way. I would figure on getting the header and downpipe/pre-cat assembly all together which ran me about $560 for both shipped.

Fwiw I recently found out the the Magnaflow WJ 4.0L pre cats are almost identical to the XJ but the cats are a little longer, and substantially less expensive. Stainless, mandrel bent...

yeah.....I don't think so.....$414 (#245070) and $755 (#447190) ....while Magnaflow is a great brand and is what I am going to use for my muffler, that's a bit out of my price range. I realize it is "magnaflow quality" and stainless steel but I got my Clifford Performance header AND Walker pre-cat for less than the #447190.

I plan to just coat the Walker with POR15 Black Velvet manifold paint anyway so I don't needs it stainless steel. In fact, SS gets brittle after a while so its best to get galvanized aluminum or regular steel to prevent weld cracks anyway.

I am not sure the #245070 would work without modification (why would you want to modify when you can get a direct fit Walker for less) as each of the pre-cats are farther apart spacing wise from one another to line up with each collector and is different in orientation as well.
