Fuel Pump Hole In One - Where to cut?

So for a couple of reasons I want to cut a hole to remove the fuel pump instead of dropping the tank. Anyone have experience with this?

Probably just as easy to drop the tank.

I did it on a Suburban and a Land Rover, but not an XJ.
Measure twice. Cut once.

Had to blink my eyes a few times while wondering, "why would you cut a hole in your tank to remove the pump".

Then the coffee kicked in. Gonna be a long day!!

You should know how big the tank is underneath the car and then take a measurement from here to that point in the backseat. And then begin cutting a hole.

I'm not really concerned about cutting a hole in this XJ. Just wanted to know if anyone had already mapped the location.

I do this to all my vehicles. Been stranded too many times by fuel pumps and been unable to do anything about it. Always seems to happen just after filling the tank too.
