Holy Cross Work Weekend 9/15/12
I'm just posting this up for the Bighorn Jeep Club so that people are aware that the trail will be effectively closed down (or at least with delays) to travel due to maintenance.
If you have a trip planned to Holy Cross that weekend, you will probably want to reschedule.
The weekend of September 15th the Big Horn Jeep Club will be hosting what we hope will be a significant maintenance effort on the Holy Cross Trail. The gist of it is that we are going to work three primary sections;
- First the creek crossing, where we have a bit of signage to do as well as fortify the bridge, and to lay some barriers to keep travel to the trail, etc..
- Second is the "bog" area, where we need to fill in the deep ruts with timber (already felled, but needs to be cut and laid), as well as try to restore the buck & rail fencing
- Lastly is up by the city where we have more fencing and signage to address.
Aside from this, there is signage/carsonites in several locations that need to be placed, replaced, or freshened up. This is going to be our big work weekend for the year. We'll be bringing chain saws, generators, spikes, shovels, and sledges... all the good stuff.
