Explain Headlight Wiring Upgrades To Me...

hmm...

I got a set of H4's for my cherokee. it's an 86 2.5 if that matters...

I'm wondering if my wiring harness will fail as a result of using these lights, or is the upgraded harness simply for less resistance?

newb question I know, but you don't learn until you ask.

The benefit is getting more juice to the bulb. So...yes, less resistance.

Your stock harness will be fine if you are running stocker bulbs. If you are running high wattage bulbs, your harness may suffer the consequences as it is not designed to handle high wattage bulbs.

Caution should be used with the high wattage bulbs as well. Some of the housings are not rated to handle the high wattage bulbs. Running the high wattage bulbs in them could result in out-gassing of the metalizing , meltage and possibly even start a fire.
