EXCLUSIVE 2 door cupholder install

I will try to keep it short so as to not hijack too much, and if anyone has specific questions feel free to PM me.

I simply took the console arm rest off, drilled two holes (using a bit normally used to drill door knob holes),
-found two coffee/travel mug lids,
cut out the center section of the lids with a dremel leaving a ring with a lip,

took out a little more material from the armrest with the dremel to make a snug fit for the rings, added a small amount of gorilla glue to the rings, pushed them in and let them dry.

Thats it- couldn't be more simple.
(BTW, the seats are from a 94 Grand, not a casket.)

So theres no bottom to these and sweat from the bottles ends up in the console?

I like the idea but i couldnt tolerate everything in the console getting wet.

There has to be a bottom in them because if you notice in the picture the bottle of water is sitting in the holder without being held on the sides

Perhaps you could use an insert for say a boat cup holder or some other removable holder from newer vehicles...

I originally planned to use a coozy/ mug so it would have a bottom, but I could not find one that had a suitable "lip".

I don't keep much in my console anyway- maglight and a couple of odds and ends. Condensation has not been a problem (just a few drops).

Nope, no bottom, so cans would not work. THe bottles are tall enough, and the console lid is thick enough to prevent the bottles from moving back and forth. It works like a charm.

hey do you care to post a pic of the bottom of the arm rest??

I don't have a pic of the bottom- I could take one later if you really want it, but there is nothing to see. It looks just like yours, w/ two holes in it.

you could just go to wally world and find two plastic cups with the right diameter and gorilla glue them to the bottom of the console outside of the rings.

For that matter I think the boating places sell cupholder kits that do just that. You cut a hole in the boat where you want a cupholder and drop the thing in.

I want a roll cage with some of the gimble mounted cupholders they sell at the boating store. That way when I roll it my drink won't spill...
