Engine just shuts off.....

Did a seach but didn't see anything that would help.

I have a 1987 XJ 4.0 stock engine w/262K on the engine.

Lately the engine will just turn off. Sometimes while driving, sometimes while sitting at a light,and sometimes when I hit a large bump in the road. What should I look at first. I was thinking maybe a ground somewhere...due to when I hit a bump....thinking also the computer?
Where should I start looking? Thanks for any help.

check your electricals.. i had a very similar problem.. turns out when the distributor went, it took out alot of grounds and did the same thing. wheck all your wires in and out of the engine. the problem is most likely there.

OK...when you say you distributor...are you meaning the coil pack?
