dd xj stalling after ran out of gas..

it funny though.. in the twenty some odd years of working on cars trucks and busses, changing batteries, swapping parts and diagnosing charging systems, ive never ever ever ever ever heard of an idle air motor forgetting its job.. the only time an iac usually fails to do what it should is when its either dirty, faulty or its taken out and manaually moved, like on an older chey, where you can manually change the pintle depth by screwing it in or out..

The IAC is actually just a STEPPER MOTOR--it responds to the PCM to extend/extract--the IAC has no memory but the PCM does and it "forgets" what to do with the IAC and other data when the battery is disconnected or system voltage drops to around 9.0 volts or less.

I will also confirm that the idle can be lost from a dead battery. All you need to do is hold down the gas for about 30-40 seconds (dont need to race the engine just enough to keep it from stalling) and the ECM with relearn the perimeters of the IAC
