Just FYI - There's an '87 XJ Wagoneer at Colorado Auto Salvage with a complete D44 under it. Might have been missing the drums, but the shafts, backing plates were on the axle.
It's something like the 3rd row from the far south part of the trucks/suv area.
It'd be an adventure though..... all the rain made a BIG muddy puddle all under that XJ....... They will remove the axle for ya for an extra charge though - might be worth it. IIRC, it'd cost under $200 for the axle and removal.
