d35 or d44.....searched

I have an 89 limited cherokee, I am curious if it has the 35 or 44. Hopefully it's the d44 so the eaton e-locker will fit! I checked out the rear axle to find any tags...I saw these numbers only on the diff cover 53005193 55 605387-1 (I highly dought they will help) Any tips will help

On an 89, you'll most likely have the 35. That was the last year (I think) of the XJ 44, and they would have been really, really rare. It's easy to tell those two axles apart. An oval cover is a D35. A D44 has a sort of hexagonal cover.
