Crank scraper... Check this out!

Knife-edging the crank counterweights certainly cuts down rotating mass and reduces windage HP losses, but it's really only practical if you have the engine out of the vehicle. Not all machine shops can do this and even after it's done, the crank still needs to be balanced.
The scraper is a bolt-on mod that can be done while the engine's still in the vehicle and the vehicle itself is parked in the driveway. All you have to remove are the oil pan and the oil pump. If you have a pit to stand in it makes life easier.
 
An old muscle car trick is to run about a half to 3/4 quarts low so the crank is'nt dipping into the oil pan causing resistance, therby increasing some ponies.
