cracked engine block

Hello guys,

First post here. About two years ago I got my first XJ. 218K miles. It did well for the first year, besides over heating. A few months back I did a head replacement to address the heating problem. But, now I fear the worst!!! I have a small leak near the back of the engine right above one of the freeze plugs. It sucks because I also did the stupid plugs; but the leaked continued!!! I had one that cracked like that over every freeze plug. I replaced the engine with a used one...honestly I would take a small drill bit and put a little relief at each end of the crack to keep it from spreading, take a Dremel and open that crack just a tiny bit, and jb weld the crap out of it. Should hold up.

Is the crack leaking any thing ? The engine is made with a sand casting and surface cracks like that can happen . if it is not leaking it is good . I have seen those on other engine blocks and they have never caused a problem .

Not sure how much that vehicle is worth to you, but years ago I had a 1996 ZJ 4.0 with 260k that I was given for free. It had a crack in the block and coolant was leaking out the crack, and spraying out once the engine was warmed up. I poured in a bottle of K Seal and it stopped the leak. I put another 10k on it before selling it to the neighbors a few years ago and they still drive it almost everyday. It's got to have 300k on it by now, just saw them in it this morning. I would never put that type of product in any vehicle I truly value though. It was a last ditch effort for me with that Jeep but it worked.
