just making sure i am reading the flashes correctly. it starts with a clear 12 then four consistent flashes with a real short pause then 55 i figured its 41 which is (an alternator field is not switching properly in response to pcm regulator signal). what would cause this code just a bad alternator or something wiring related.
 
A 41 would be four flashes, a pause, and one flash. You said you just got four flashes. So the two numbers would have to add up to four.

So it could be a 13, 22, or 31.

Of course, the 12 and 55 are irrelevant.
