Budget Rear Coilover Conversion ?

I'm looking for opinions ...
I have an RE 3.5" SF system with full packs on my 98.
What if I was to remove a couple of the shorter leaves so the springs flatten out, then install some type of coilover shock in the stock location to lift it back up. Would this put too much stress on the the stock shock mounts ? Any other issues you can think of ?

I would fab some new mounts both on the axel and between the frame rails and then just use a main leaf to locate the axel but then again Id also probably fab some arms and just 4 link it if I were going through the trouble
