Brett at AW Shifting took my money and gave me the shaft!

I paid PayPal, and I have received nothing in more than 45 days, no response to my e-mails. no response to my PayPal Dispute Resolution, no response AT ALL!

I suggest that you spread the word that this business is not a place a fellow member should do business at. I get more for my money at the gas station! This type of business that takes your money and gives you nothing in return is not known i

Just imagine if there was a problem with my order like a defective part, or wrong order??

If Brett is ill, he needs to turn OFF his website order process. Sure Paypal will get my money back after I wait 3 more of the 20 days for dispute resolution, but anybody that does business like this deserves negative publicity.

Dude, calm down!

You will get your shifter kit. It make take a little time but you will get. He maybe waiting until he has enough orders to build a decent run of shifters, or maybe something. But you will get your shift kit.
 
He must be very busy or something, I too would like a shifter but I really don't want to lay it down just in case, I should have bought when he was a fairly active member last year. whats up??

Dumb question - have you heard from Brett himself yet? As I understand it, he builds them from scratch - and he probably wants to get four or five orders in before he sets them all up again ("from scratch" probably even includes etching the PC boards - he does it all himself.)

I do the same thing with my books - while I give cables "up to two weeks" (in the event that I've run out of something, and I need to bring it in,) it's usually inside of a week from committing the order to having it in your hands. Books can be "up to four weeks" - since I print and publish myself, it takes some time (I try to print 4-6 copies at one go, since it's not much more work for me to break out six copies than to do just one.)

And, isn't Brett going to school for something-or-other? That can take up plenty of time - especially if you take classes in the summer term to try to get ahead (I know what that's like as well.)

Just sayin' - I think it would be instructive to hear his side of things as well, before you start bashing him. For every one dissatisfied customer you hear from, there are at least twenty who are quite happy (that you don't hear from.)

My only worry is - have you given him a chance to explain himself? I know I've screwed up - and that's the courtesy I ask. I'll sort the problem if it's mine, or help you find it if it's yours, and that's really all I can do. I'm sure Brett works the same way.
 
On the contact page of his site there is a note as of july '08 that he has a new e-mail address due to problems with his old one and an appology for not getting back to people over the last month or so.The new address is: [email protected]

Since this is a one man operation, if I am out of town and unable to answer emails or ship shifters I will use an auto-reply on my email. I also understand some people would like to speak to me on the phone; I have another job and other obligations that prevent me from having a dedicated phone for this business, but if you send me an email with your phone number and when a good time to call is, I will call you or email you back my personal number.
 
he's a good man, try the other email and you'll have it rectified in no time
 
45 days is a long time to wait. if i were running a small business i would at least contact you and find out if it were ok to wait that long. Or if you were the only order i got i would just suck it up and fill your order by any means possible to keep my customer happy. a small loss on 1 order is well worth the happy customer coming back and telling his buddies he had good dealings with me

Just to repeat whats already been said.

Sometimes one man, or small number companies take time, and have to wait for multiple orders before getting the product out to the customer. When I ordered my DCC Kit for my taurus fan install, it took well over 45 days before I received it. I emailed, a few times, and only a few were answered giving me an approx time to expect it. Even still it was late, but it was worth waiting for in the end.

Granted you haven't been in contact with him, but at the sametime thats not to say he has openly taken your money and left you high and dry. Paypal transfers the money you give them, but they don't ensure he is going to hand over the product within a certain period. Brett on the other hand has to look at the bottom line and if he's a busy SOB like most small businesses are, than multiple orders, or school, or prior commitments can definitely interrupt the build process.

Try the new email, I know my hotmail account is setup only to accept from people in my address book, even still Viagra shit still gets through (unless the wife is trying to tell me something)
Since you have already started the money return process you may aswell go through with it. Unless he gets back to you with new info.

In the end, he has a product you want, if you want it badly, either make it yourself, or deal with the wait and get what you wanted in the first place.
 
Waiting 45+ days on a product is one thing... however, that should be stated upfront prior to someone placing an order...

If his website said expect 45+ days before I ship my product or something to that effect then the OP would have expected it....

People get busy, bite off more than they can chew, etc. They just need to keep everything updated to give people peice of mind...

I've found that customer service has greatly slid downhill over the past few years... or am i wrong?

EDIT: I had one of his kits... and it's a very nicely packaged product.. but I dont remember it taking more than 2 weeks to arrive...
 
First of all, thank you Billy for emailing me at my personal email about this thread.

It's a long story that I don't fully understand, but I've had major problems this past month with my email and PayPal account. It would seem someone else hacked in or something and I had to go through a long process with PayPal to get it restored to me, which happened just a few days ago. I've been trying to play catch-up since.

All open orders will be filled (or refunds given, if desired), shipping yesterday, tomorrow and Monday. I am going through my PayPal notifying people of the situation as we speak, and I'll make sure to get to the original poster right now.

Thank you for your patience, and I know everyone who has ordered in the last month is probably just as frustrated as I have been. My sincere apologies.

I was beginning to wonder.

Unfortunately, I sold my Jeep before we ever resolved my AWShifter malfunction.

I did sell it to a local, and you should expect to hear from him on further trying to resolve that issue. I'm gonna forward our emails to your new address so you have the record of it.

well as of 5 minutes ago, i got my money back. I'm not sure what did it between pirate, naxja or all the emails but he finally gave in after 4 months and gave me my money back. No explanation just a refund. oh well, lesson learned.
