so ive had my new jeep for a while since my last one got wrecked.. so i feel like about now is a good time to throw up a mini build thread because.... i can..
I bought it early into the winter, a 2000 jeep cherokee 4.0 4x4 with 116k
ordered up a 4.5" lift quickly, went for rough country because of the discount
<a href="http://s867.photobucket.com/user/Michael_Peckham/media/IMG_20130209_221514_zps6a398334.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab232/Michael_Peckham/IMG_20130209_221514_zps6a398334.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20130209_221514_zps6a398334.jpg"/></a>

and this lift made my 31's look tiny...

So i got in contact with dustin and cleaned up his old wheels and tires and i gotta say i love them

after destroying the rockers on the warthog and flopping it... i decided to invest in some armor and got the JCR Stage 1 sliders, also lost my fender flares a week later when i took blue balls to ma bell also...

now that im leaving to boot camp very soon i found it time to sell the hog..

and this money financed my investment in some pre-owned 4.11 axles, d30 front (i dont have yet) and an 8.25 rear.
with the remaining cash i decided to borrow a welder and grab some doors at the junk yard and make myself some half doors.

and after the horrible forecast of surprise storms over the next week i decided i needed some drop in windows for blue balls in case i get caught in the rain... i finished the frame of the drivers door and a rough cut of the acrylic...

ill post some more on the half doors once i finish them.... curious to see what people think of blue balls and the new doors ive hacked together..

gotta love the patriot blue. nice xj....really liken the half doors....looking forward to see what she looks like when done I've been wanting to do a set of half doors myself.....just adding to the list haha

dude im trying wicked hard to get you that 4.11 front should be just a few more days.

delivery of the 4.11 front is on for sat!

on a side note... do you guys think there is enough door there to wheel with it and not worry about body warp-age?

From what ive read the side doors dont do a whole lot to keep body flex down. The rear hatch does more. As long as you have both hinge points and the latch. I dont see an issue.

so i got my front axle today, a d30 from a 98 tj. 411 gears. i am planning to install it tomorrow and throw in the new adjustable uca's i got from rusties. over all the axle is great...

however a new issue. It appears that the tj d-30 has its alignment shim things on the axle.... like so..

so now i am wondering if i should use it like it is and have some sketchy alignment stuff... or is there a more straight forward way to eliminate them and mount like the d-30 on an xj?
thanks everybody for all the input.. more on the half doors as well, which are done.

Just get the tj lca bolts. Or if you really dont want to run them you could weld a washer in the horshoe part and that should center the hole and eliminate the adjuster part.

Also a tj d30 is low pinion. Its a little weaker. But its not the end of the world. Just do.t forget that whe ordering gears or a locker.

I have no plan on keeping the d30. Its more temporary but it has the gears I need for 4x4. I plan on finding a 44 in the future. I just set the caster bolts and welded the one on the nut side to it so nothing would move. Installation complete. Just testing her out now

Death wobble.... Can't pinpoint the location. Not ball joints. Not in the steering. I'm still tracking this down...

Try track bar and lca joints. Couldent hurt to check the wheel bearings too.

drilled the new hole for the track bar wrong, fit a bolt to the hole and got it in the track bar. significantly better now. alignment shop is next

mike do you need the alignment bolts?

mike do you need the alignment bolts?

no, i broke the one on there and picked more up at only $16 a bolt mopar.. got the death wobble figured out, had to do a little drilling out of the busing on the track bar to get a bolt in that would not shake around. finally have 4-wheel drive back, i need to replace the wheel bearing on the drivers side on the d-30. it sounds like it's going. but I washed blue balls for the 4th.... washing a dirty jeep is so much work. not doing that again...

-- wow my tires look tiny... i need 33's... not balding 32's

Make sure you have your caster set right, that can definitely cause DW. And those cam bolts set it, so since you got new ones it should be pretty easy to dial in.
