Blinkers work but hazards do not

98 Xj 4.0 auto 4wd lifted 33's







The 1998 Xj failed inspection because the hazards do not work. Turn signals work totally fine. The issue with the hazards must be relatively new as I usually turn them when on the highway and traffic comes to a sudden halt. Has anyone had this problem before? Could this still be the relay even though the turn signals work?

Don't know about 98 but yes in a 95, separate relays.

There are separate blinker modules for each.

try working the switch back and forth very aggressively, they dont get used much so sometimes things get sticky, I used to do inspections and found this on a lot of makes

Give the switch a shot of WD-40 while doing the above.
That's worked for me on similar problems.

Switch turned out to be dirty. Was less touchy before but now wiggling the switch makes them work. So I will be cleaning it. Thanks!
