arrrrgh while attempting to remove my motor one of the Torx bolt heads on the top of the bell housing stripped. The extractor didn't work either... so what was left of the head was ground off. I went under the jeep and found the bell housing is cracked through the starter a long vertical crack - can it be welded or does it have to be replaced... I am positive that if I had cracked it I would have heard it.. it is totally unnoticeable when lowered bck into the original position.

Replace it, it may look like this when removed.

I'd replace it. Welding won't be cheap. JIM.
