Brake booster part number 54-74040 from CARDONE is listed as the replacement for my 1987 Wagoneer Limited (4x4, 4L) in the computers at AutoZone and Kragen (CSK).
The four bolts that hold the booster to the firewall are a size larger than the booster that came out, and they won't go through the firewall. These bolts have threads that run all the way to the end of the bolt, while the original booster has threads that end about 1/4" from the end of the bolt - meaning that the bolt has a narrow tit at the end. Also, the nuts don't fit the new one.
Anyone know what the correct part number is?
