About ready to give up- Front DS vibes, 01 xj- Advice appreciated

The front pinion is aimed straight at the front shaft, off 1/2 degree, per FSM, to promote roller bearing movement in the front u-joint..

Went out last night and set the pinion angle to as close to zero as possible. It made a difference, raising the point where the vibs become a problem from 65 mph to 75 (on the 33"s), faster than my normal cruise speed.
Evidently, the slight misalignment of the pinion is enough to cause problems when mixed with the 15.5 degrees of angle change in the CV joint.
FSM calls for 1/2 a degree or more of pinion difference to keep the rollers rotating. I would rather change the u-joint once a year than to put up with the vibs. Problem solved for now.

Next I need to try the 31"s, the DD tires (10.50 X 31 Revos) to see where the vibs start.
