97+ door panel plastic rivets

So I just got my 97+ doors put on my XJ and I'm having some troubles with the door panels. The ones I got had the material peeling off the armrests and I noticed on these the armrests are held in by plastic rivets instead of the older style ones being held in by screws.
These are what I'm talking about...

What is going to happen if I drill these out? Am I going to find out they won't reattach? Am I best to just knock the heads off and then use self tapping screws and a washer? If anyone has any ideas let me know, I'm kinda new to this style of door panel.
Thanks,
Collin

I think you have the plan, get some short (3/4" ish) self tappers just run them in, the rivet is plastic so you don't need to risk a big mess by drilling it out.

Awesome fellas, thanks a lot!
