heres the deal, long yes, but any help is appreciated.
I have a 97 xj block that I have done a rebuild on.
I am finally reaching the point of getting the truck back together and getting it started.
The cam that came out of the 97 block was trashed due to wear, so my choice was after market or the 91-95 style, due to the fact that noone produces a 97+ stock spec cam.
I went with the new stock 91-95.
The cam bearings from 95 are same ones used for 97 block, so I do not see a problem there.
But I have recently come about some info that stated the pin and spring or cam plug for these two cams are different?
When I installed the cam I used the 97+ hardware in the end of the cam.
Does anyone know if using the older style cam requires use of different cam hardware on the timing chain end of the cam?
