760 u joints

I just picked up two Spicer 760 joints and the little slip of paper inside says not to add any grease. I prefer to use Mobil 1 synth. or marine grease. There are no zerks, so I want them good and lubed up before installing them. Will it hurt to clean the factory grease out and add my own?

the slip just means that you don't need to add any grease and that it comes fully loaded with grease, otherwise someone would be trying to figure out why there's not zerk fitting.

i have no scientific data to back it up, but I think you would be fine substituting a high quality grease of similar viscosity (that's the correct word, right?).

I think I'll take a look first. If they look kinda dry, I'll just hose 'em down with brake or carb cleaner and lube 'em back up real well.
