31" Tires on a stock '96 XJ?

I found a great deal on some 31-10.5-15" tires locally. I haven't even ordered my lift kit yet and my current tires are in terrible shape (235/75/15s). Can I ride on the 31" on the road til my lift gets here or should I just leave the tires sitting in my garage until all the other parts go on?

You can extend you bump stops and drive with them on the street.

I ran 31x10.5's on 95 XJ stock, even wheeled with em... they rubbed a little on LCA"S at full crank and upper inner fender on the rear at stuff... so if your not worried bout a little rubbing go for it....
