2001 4.0 sounds like a tea kettle in cold temps

So a late update is better than no update. My power steering pump was original (170k) and had been leaking for some time. A few months ago I went ahead and replaced it. I'm not sure if it was a coincidence, but my tea kettle seems to have been finally removed from the burner 
It's been in the teens several nights already this year and I haven't heard a peep from the heep.
