I just replaced the dreaded D35 for a D44.
I am running the same sye and Drive shaft as I did on the D35. At ride height I have about 1-2 inches of compression... and about 4 inches of extension.
I want to make sure that I do not compress the rear end and shove the DS through the TC.
What...
I have done the CV swap on an 87 XJ D44. The rotors are thicker than the old drums... This has moved the wheel farther out on the axle hub. This normally has a shoulder then a tapper. With the rotor being thicker it appears that this moves the wheel out on to the tapper.
The lug nut that...
Hi,
I have been reading alot on the brake conversions and I see that for the D44 we have ZJ, Exploder, and CV.
I have the CV parts in my garage and they bolt up pretty good for the dry fitting, however my CV parts are loaded with Metric parts and the soft lines appear to be metric.
The axle...
OK.. I have just installed a header and tonight I had it out for the first time with everything buttoned up.
For a 15 mile round trip I found that I had noticiable heat in the foot well and everything felt much warmer under the hood than before the header went on.
I have no leaks in the...
I have found that my XJ overheats while climbing the sand dunes...
For thouse that do not run in the sand climbing a dune is running about 4500 RPM for 25-60 seconds depending on the dune. If you do not make it you must back down and try again.
2-3 tries at a dune and I was into the getting...
I had a bad joint on the drive shaft at the rear axle.
It is a D35 and I have done a Tom Woods SYE.
I went down to the local parts store and got a new joint but the new joint feels larger than the original.
The new caps measure out to 1.127.
The old caps measure out to 1.062 (Dial...
NSS....
Now that I know it is the NSS that is causing the issue with my jeep not starting.... I have it jumped out to be sure that it is the NSS. And amazingly enough the Jeep started.
I put the jumper inside the connector that is located at the back of the engine bay next to the tranny dip...
97 xj, 4.0 liter stock engine bay.
It will not start. It was running last 3 weeks ago and parked inside the garage.
It has been cold enough to freeze the balls of a brass monkey here in Michigan and I started with about 4 hours on the trickle charger.
I have done the easy stuff...
Over the summer it seemed as if my 4.0 was dying It as 147K on the clock...Oil Press on the freeway was just shy of 40 PSI. and on more than one occaiton it would drop below 10 PSI for a few moments .... Normally on exit ramps and parking lots where it was at idle and at temperture.
I...
'97 4.0 Liter with 150K on the clock.
This past summer I pulled off the freeway and into a parking lot. It was in the upper 90's for temp and my oil pressure fell to 0 (zero) dash lights came on and everything. I would say that this engine never had a high oil pressure problem but it had...
I am planning a rear axle upgrade.
I currently have d35 with 3.55 gears and 31-inch tires. I would like to ditch the D35 before it ditches me.
The end goal is for running 33-35 inch tires on a locked rear end geared for 4.56. I will be driving this for pleasure around town, and to and...
Hi, I know that this is not exactly Jeep related but is is a Garage Mod that I have found very useful. Especially for those with limited space.
I have a 2 car garage and most of the time the real work bench is piled high with other projects... AKA stuff. My wife likes to park inside and as...
