    1999 Jeep Cherokee - Expedition Built - $7,000

Thanks everyone for the replies. I'm aware I may sit on it for a while, which is not a big a deal. I'm also open to offers. I don't mind dropping the price to get it to a good home, hate seeing it sit. It's on JeepForum, and CL. It'll sell eventually, thankfully I'm not in any real hurry.

Open to offers - Not in a hurry to sell, but hate to see it sit.

    1999 Jeep Cherokee - Expedition Built - $7,000

For sale: 1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ, with just under 150,000 miles. I purchased this a year ago from a gentleman in Virginia, and have since done much more work on it, as it was going to bring me to California this summer, but my plans have since changed. There is every little rust on this, as it...

unbearably bouncy ride after IRO 3" lift

X2 - I rode around for about 10,000 miles on a vertical Shackle. I've been running about 3,000 miles on the relocation brackets, and its night and day. My ride was not unbearable with a vertical shackle, but my ride with the relocation brackets, is a 100x better.

New Coils - Rubbing TB Bracket

Agree with both of you, I'll probably just opt for the IRO, with bracket, which will eliminate all issues with my coils rubbing, no matter the caster angle and then sell the JKS. I thought about lobbing off the end of the JKS, and installing IRO's double sheer "upgrade" but I figure for the...

New Coils - Rubbing TB Bracket

The JKS TB has a FIXED (welded on) JJ with a 9/16" bolt that goes up through the OEM hole, similar to a TRE. Unfortunately, I think I'll probably upgrade to a double sheer set up, and get a new bracket, just to completely eliminate the chance of rubbing. Annoying, but whatever, not the worst...

New Coils - Rubbing TB Bracket

Normally i'd totally agree. Originally, the rubbing was constant, like literally, sounded like a a metal on metal rubbing pretty much constantly (roads here suck), and to add to that, the sound/feeling of the spring vibrating off of the frame. This was anything but "occasionally". In fact this...

New Coils - Rubbing TB Bracket

I know the adj arms will help, but the issue that I have is to get the pinion better, the caster suffers. For me, the caster was actually not an issue, it was nearly 0 when I started out, and the jeep tracked straight and true. The issue with the caster was actually that the coil perches made...

New Coils - Rubbing TB Bracket

Assuming you mean hub kit? - Would offset lower ball joints do this? Stretch it: Could this be done "enough" with just adjustable arms? - But wouldn't this also throw off the spring perch issue again?

New Coils - Rubbing TB Bracket

So I pulled out the Adjuster shoes, drilled out the studs, and then tapped them out. Installed new #8 bolts, with washers as spacers. Pushed the control arm to the front of the bracket. This straightened (although not completely, but close) the coils. Reinstalled, checked everything, driveshaft...

New Coils - Rubbing TB Bracket

Honestly, I think i'm running negative caster, or 0, at the very least, and it drives fine, tracks straight, no wandering. If my springs were curved like a banana, I probably wouldn't even think to correct it. I'm going to dial it back a little, enough to stop my spring from rubbing on the OE...

    Front driveshaft

I'm running a used DS in mine. Went to a used parts store, asked them to see all of their DS's for my year, they let me go through all of them, and check for slop/play. I picked the best one, and bought it for $50. Ordered new U-Joints, and ball rebuild, dropped it off at a DS shop for a quick...

    Leaf shims after 3103-CV hack-n-tap

Another thing you should consider is the leaf springs that were used. The center hole location could be different than "stock" or another set of leafs, putting the axle at a different angle. Again, everyone's set up is different, you can't expect to see 3" of lift = 3-4* of shim for everyone. As...

    Leaf shims after 3103-CV hack-n-tap

Extended shackles would push your pinion up, as will lift version relocation brackets.

    Leaf shims after 3103-CV hack-n-tap

Can you post photos of you measuring angles, might be that your measuring in a place that may not be precise, if your finding that you need 10*. Everyone here can tell you what they did on their jeep, but at the end of the day, every set up is different. Also, tell us your plans for the rear...

New Coils - Rubbing TB Bracket

I'm fine with finding a happy medium. I'm pretty sure my Caster angle is way off, and driving wise, it doesn't seem to be that bad, so all I really want to do is get a little more positive so that my springs sit straight, and don't rub. If I didn't just pick up with the JKS Trackbar, I would...

New Coils - Rubbing TB Bracket

I just ordered new adjusters... hum, maybe I should cancel that order, and do what you said. Good call. Thanks for the heads up on that, appreciate your help!

preferences on how you would achieve a certain lift

Granted I'm still working on my set up - just installed the new coils, and have to do some adjustments to the caster angle - but before the new 4.5" coils on the front, I had a set of 2" lift springs with 2" spacers installed, and I installed the CAD brackets, and it made a huge difference in...
