    2000 XJ Front shocks

My wife standing there with a smile from ear to ear....everyone's a comedian. Sure enough there were the shocks at the rear of the front axle. It's really kinda funny. No excuses...at least none that are legit. We don't drive the Jeep much so it's not been a priority for me. But then my...

    2000 XJ Front shocks

Thanks WinterBeater. I was feeling a little stupid even asking the question. I appreciate your clearing it up for me. I'll get it in the air in a couple of days to take a look. Thanks again, Jay

    2000 XJ Front shocks

Hi, The front end is very bouncy and obviously needs shocks. I'm not a suspension expert but have done a fair number of shock replacements over the years. Are the front shocks different than earlier years? I haven't gotten it up in the air yet but when I first looked underneath it appeared...

It's NOT the flexplate...what is causing this sound?!

Have you poked around with a sounding device like a piece of broom handle or a stethoscope? It will narrow down the search.

New motor oil wear problems on older engines

You might be right Ecomike. I would run the Mobil1 product in mine but the rear main seal doesn't like it much. To anyone reading my post....a lot of the conversation was directed to old British iron.

    Mityvac!

They're a great tool to have in the box. Like many tools you don't need them often but when you do they're invaluable. I have a tool justification program in my life. I save so much money doing all of the repairs that i reward myself with tools every now and then. Now that I am a 53 year old...

New motor oil wear problems on older engines

Hi, I'm just coming into this discussion and I hope I'm not repeating what someone has already stated as I have not read every post on this lengthy topic. It's my understanding that a generic statement can be made that this only affects flat tappet engines during the cam lobe/tappet break-in...

    94xj ac compressor bearing

How'd you do with this? I'll be attempting it soon. I do all of my own work but have never had the need to be into the AC clutch area. My Auto Zone shows the part number as Ready Aire #1963...retail $43.99...

    Switch to Synthetic Oil?

Just an update if anyone is interested...... I just changed the oil again. It was weeping just a bit so I added 4 quarts of Valvoline 5W-30 and 2 quarts of Mobil 1 5W-30. Not a drop leaking now so this is the blend I'll stick with in the future for this rig. Jay in MA

AW4 no forward when cold problem

Same with a friend of mine. He had an old Ford 150 that did the same thing. Bought it from another friend of mine knowing that it had this problem. He added the Lucas and no more problem ....and he plowed with this truck as well. He had a little left over and it quieted the power steering...

    Belt tighteness

Well I got around to playing with the Kriket II so I'll answer my own question. I was going to reply to a PM from someone that asked me to respond if I figured it out. It appears that I have 40 PMs stored but it's little unclear to me how I can get to them.....none show in the inbox or sent...

aw4 how many quarts of fluid

Gee BrettM, I wonder what the new part in the box on my bench is then??? In this case, there is a right way and an easy way...even your way isn't the easy way. Maybe you are underthinking it. If you're going to do it like that, leave it on the blocks, start it, put it through the gears for a...

    Noisy lifter? or something else?

I've heard of engines with loose rockers wearing the end off the valve stem to the point that the keeper has nothing to keep and the valve gets launched through the piston. So what was the final prognosis with your blown engine????

Why Jiffy Lube will never have my business again...

I'm aware of all that you stated.....but I don't buy tools or parts that say "Made in China". They might catch up with quality sometime in the future but right now they are the biggest counterfeiters on the globe and don't care about quality.
