Maybe a shackle lift, aal, combined with the appropriate lift coils up front and some 31's-32's with some metal trimming are in order then. This will save you big headaches in the control arm/trac bar/steering dept.
Best of luck.
Well, I have it done. I just used a 2x6 and lifted a little. I set the front horizontal body line first, took the striker off, used the 2x6 to pick the rear of the door up, then re-installed the striker. everything's cool, except the rear of the cab is crushed in about 1/2". Time for some...
I'm installing new doors on my MJ now after a recent rollover and cannot get the passenger side straight for the life of me. Are there any tricks? What point do I start at?
I rolled over on the passenger side and onto my top, so the hinges on the body may be bent, but not by much if at all. I...
Glad you're OK, forewheeler - Time for bigger and better! FYI, the beach party on Sat. night went off without a hitch, well a broken window is about it. But boy was the female scenery at a premium! :eyes:
Sorry I couldn't make this run, I'll be watching for the next one.
Go to www.michiganjeepers.com. Lots of michigan people around. There's a huge run at the Mounds (in Flint) Feb 21. But yeah, keep this forum to mod. tech.
My sis accidentally locked my keys in my MJ and I had to smash out the center slider to get them out. From shopping junkyards ($35-$40 for the whole window) I decided to use thick plexiglass ($2 at lowes) I cut it to fit, and could bend the glass to get it into the slider. I tinted it to...
Another possibility is running leaf springs up front. This is a bit more extensive in the fabrication department, but is possible. There is no "kit" persay, but if you know how to set it up, front leaves can be very effective.
I'll be going that route in awhile, and I currently have rubicon...
Robert - there needs to be more people like you on the trail, go prepared or don't go at all. I completley agree that the flatty you mentioned would not be the best person to wheel with. I doubt he had spares either.
And thanks Matt for that explanation - makes sense to me.
"Right" is a relative term. And yes, 4x4 shops don't know everything.
If you are willing to swap springs and coils every 6-8 months, that's great. Wouldn't the saggy spring be saggy no matter what side it's on? Swapping a saggy spring from side to side shouldn't change anything as I can see...
I toatally agree with you about doing things the right way.
Mine was about 1" higher on the drivers side when I installed the used springs. I only needed a 5/8" block on the passenger side because when you raise one side, the other side recieves more weight, therefore the other side drops...
If the springs are trash in the first place, I don't see the big deal. He can level his rig out cheaply and save a ton of money.
I bought used MJ springs this summer, installed them on my MJ, and they sat crooked. I talked to a reputable local off road shop and he told me to install a 5/8"...
I'll get flamed for this, but I'll say it anyway.
You could throw a small block back there on the one side to level things out. Granted it's not the best way to solve the problem, but it will work perfectly and it will be dirt cheap. Total cost, block and u-bolts $20 max.
Agreed with EVERYTHING above, 100% correct - the YJ yoke espically, I'm at 7.5" and my t-case was leaking till I swapped in a YJ yoke, exactly 1/4" longer than the MJ yoke, just enough to stop the leaking and provide more strength. Plus mine was free! No probs with my closed cooling system yet...
I believe that a bunch of MichiganJeepers are heading to the Mounds that day (Moundsapalooza, but not). I could possibly go to attica, however I'm throwing a huge beach party that night at my place. If there wasn't going to be 1500 lbs of sand in my living room and kitchen and 20 chicks in...
I'd paint the diamond plate black.
When I do my MJ, I'll use sheet metal to round off the body with a Humvee LED taillight. It'll be a pain, but will be worth it.
Yours is unique, lose the bling and it'll be awesome!
