    WJ T-case question

T-case failing on me... Long time no see - largely on the basis that I've not done much maintenance for a while and moved on to a WJ for a fair time ago... Sorry that it's not strictly XJ-related, but NAGCA are a POS and as much use as a chocolate fireguard for advice (RichP excepted), so I...

    Grinding U-joint to fit...

I came to the conclusion that the yoke was slightly bent as I can't get the UJ out. I know it's a tight fit, but the gap just doesn't seem big enough to let the UJ out any more and after hours of fiddling, I'm no further forward - hence I thought I'd bent it. I think so. Will have another...

    Grinding U-joint to fit...

Thanks for such a quick reply! Erm, I think it moves freely, and IIRC the cap looks good - no needles out of place. That said, it's been a while since I had a go at it. My main problem is that as I can't get the UJ back out in the first place, I'm going to have to hack it up if I want to...

    Grinding U-joint to fit...

I think that I've managed to bend the half shaft yoke in slightly when swapping out/ in a new UJ, as I can't get the C-clips to go in on both sides: I never knew it was possible to do it with a vice, but that's the only sensible conclusion I can come to. In order to make the thing fit, I'm left...

    No kickdown on WJ

I'm having some wierd probs with my new WJ: it won't rev to above 3500 revs unless I start using the gears! It seems to be exactly the opposite behaviour to most WJ trannys which go funny on account of the TPS. Any suggestions? Could it be to do with a leaky brake booster, which I also have?

    Coupla' WJ questions

Thanks Manche. I found your earlier thread on this, so will deal with it once I come back from holidaying in Beej-land. Cheers!

    Coupla' WJ questions

I suppose these are pretty standard questions that can relate to any jeep, but I'd appreciate some guidance. Firstly, there's a hissing from the brake pedal, which gets worse after braking. It stops when your foot's on the pedal. I assume it's some sort of vacuum leak, but 2nd and 3rd...

    WJ cat/ o2 sensor problem

The jeep's currently 200 miles away from me, but I managed to get the dealer to check the engine codes - nothing. Is that a good sign, or is it suffering from short term memory loss? Symptoms: The "lamba sensor" - I guess the upstream o2 sensor - looks as if it's been melted and the engine...

    WJ cat/ o2 sensor problem

Hi, I'm looking into getting a 1999 4.7 V8 WJ, and it's running very rough (ie, cheap!). Apparently the lambda sensor is melted and as a result is running very rich. Would it just be a matter of picking up a new sensor, or is it likely that the cat is also damaged? Any other causes I should...

    Advice on going Grand

I've just had my 98 XJ written off by the insurers following an argument with a tractor, and am being "encouraged" by my better half to look at a Grand Cherokee, and a WJ at that. Has anyone had any experience with these things? I know the 4L engines will be good, but what about the V8s...

Check Out my OEM Repainted Wheels

Wasn't it on Channel 4 last year? I don't think it was on Sky, but it's certainly been aired. Well worth seeing, although expect to lose some bladder control...

Cheap regear for stocker - 3.07 to 4.11 advice needed

At the risk of being flamed for not searching (which I've done), here goes... I've looked around, and I think I know the answer already, but I'd like to hear it for you all. Current setup: DD '93, 180,000 miles, 4.0l, AX15 with 3.07 axles and 235's. The 235s are a bit on the generous size...

    In the poor house

Check out Rocklizard fabrication's 2" BB writeup - that'll save you a few pennies. Anyway, what's wrong with a BB? I know many men that would be very happy with an extra 2"...

    Your user name..

I just nicked the name of one of my wife's horses - beware the power of names - they end up turning into what you call them! I'm thinking about renaming my greyhound Stupid for that very reason.

    Scenic Wheeling Picture Thread

OK, here are a couple from Scotland: this is above Kinloch Rannoch, in the shadow of Shehallion. I had to go up there to do a survey with my boss, in advance of a hydro scheme for a private estate, to look for archaeological sites. Hard life... Ok, it's not Moab, but it was an adventure...

    ax-15 master cylinder

Glad it worked out for you - changing the slave is a little more involved, as I found out last year! The best way to do a clutch bleed I found was to just let it drip through - that gave me back some performance, until the fluid squirted out of the slave again... FYI, changing the slave...

    Speakers in a 2door

You'll probably find that there are the wiring pigtails in the hatch - if it's got louvres in the plastic hatch facing, speakers were to be fitted behind them. If that makes any sense...

Best shocks for 97+ street handling?

I run Bilsteins & 215's on a 98 Sport - they are as stiff as any sporty European car and greatly improve handling. I've also heard Edelbrock are good, and was considering getting those, until I bought this jeep, which came with everything I wanted - God bless Spanish psychiatrists! You should...
