PICS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST
I am lifting a 2001 Jeep Wrangler Sahara for a local guy...
I am using a home made 3" spacer setup
so far I have the rear spacer installed and the bump stops lengthened
I have a few questions...
1.) At 3" of lift, how far should I lower the transfer case to...
draglink / trackbar angles... how come I never hear of people using an angle finder?
I always here people say to take a picture and to use Microsoft Paint to draw lines so you can get a better idea of how close they are to correct...
well why not just measure the 2 with an angle finder?
added 1.5" shackles & shackle relocation boxes now rear SYE Dshaft is too long?
added 1.5" shackles & shackle relocation boxes now rear SYE Dshaft is too long?
ideas?
I had 3" leafs and stock shackles...
still have 3" 3" leafs and above listed stuff too...
ideas?
3 link using drop side UCA mount... what do I do about the tiny bolt it uses??
the bushing is in great shape
drill it out to something bigger? replace it with something bigger? I think is runs a 10.9 10mm bolt factory... some say a 7/16 bolt can be made to fit will a little work...
what if...
looking for a front shock...
it will be for an XJ front...
at rest it will be 28.5 eye to eye
fully compressed it will be 19
what do you guys have in mind?
cheap is the important thing here... lol
THIS IS NOT FOR MY XJ... that thing still runs... lol
my buddy's 1997 XJ 4.0 is doing something weird...
the fuel pressure is fine at first... then randomly it will drop to around 18psi and barely run... shortly after is recovers...
he has installed 2 new pumps and cleaned out the tank...
toying with the idea of inverting the UCAs resting angle...
there is a method to what I am thinking of...
the LCAs are 22 5/8" and have a resting angle of around 5° (+/- 1°)
the UCAs are 19"
so I figured if I pointed the frame side of the UCAs down a degree or two the the following would...
I have an old set of RC 3" coils... back when they used to be Black... well they are just fine and not sagging at all... but I have a chance to get a set of new 4.5" RC coils for next to nothing... and a buyer for my 3" coils...
I guess my question is, What good are the new RC coils over...
as many of you know I have be modding my XJ to accept JK front UCAs and LCAs
(some of you may also know that we did this to a my buddy's XJ a while back, but we did not include adjustability of any kind as he intended to build heim joint suspension at a later date... he was so
the LCAs where...
anyone see this? not to mention it is kinda wacked out shackle angle
http://www.off-roadweb.com/features/0701or_1989_jeep_cherokee_xj/cherokee_pictures.html
building some brackets to install some JK front upper and lower control arms... HOWEVER... I am not sure what angle I should shoot for...
I am at 4.75" of actual lift...
from test fitting I can keep the arms pretty close to the frame and end up at 5°
or I can lower the arms a little bit...
Who or what inspired you to build your first Jeep?
for me it was a man called GO Jeep, and another man called MAD XJ... after reading their pages I was knew I wanted to build my Jeep
also I needed an excuse to get a decent welder...
what about you? Who or what did it for you?
Well I am in the process of fabbing a mid arm setup... while I had the stock lowers off I decided to measure the slotted bolt hole on the XJ's lower control arm frame mount... turns out that the XJ can take a shim that is a little thicker that 1/2" what does this mean for cheapskate XJ owners...
I am almost ready to go from 3" to 4.5"-5"
what do you guys think of my plan?
Current Setup
1996 Jeep XJ Sport 4.0HO, Auto, np 231j
Front Rough Country 3" Coils, (measures just under 20 2/3" from hub to fender flare, just over 3" lift)
rear newer stock springs with 3" AAL (measures just...
Was driving my 96 4.0 Cherokee down the highway today and the XJ just lost power, I got to the side and it was just barely running, really low idle almost, kicking and just running REALLY rough... a few seconds later it died
I tried to start it, it would turn over but when you started trying...
