dana 44 rear axle seal question/clarification

I agree and that's exactly how I put it all back together (and how it came apart) back in the fall. I can't figure out how the tech figures there is an inner seal there now? Maybe the tech mistook the rtv bead for a seal? Perhaps lost in translation between the tech, the counter guy and me...

dana 44 rear axle seal question/clarification

I have a shop regearing my 87 d44 right now and the tech is saying the same thing...that there is an inner seal in there. Now I am really confused because I just did the rear bearings/outer seals in the fall and I did NOT see any inner seal. WTF? They are saying that one was installed in there...

Odd high idle trouble... help please!

I went through high idle problems with my 90 laredo. PITA. Replace all vacuum lines, replaced both the IAC and TPS but all of this seemed to help only a bit. I then added a throttle return spring from summit racing. That helped out a lot more but I still had some high idle at times and if...

    Swapping a 1990 Radiator into a 1999

WinterBeater....Yep...the "T"s have recovery spouts that run off them. joe peters....Thanks, I think splicing in a "T" for $20 or so is gonna be my best bet. MJR...Nope, no rad shop for at least 60miles or so. That would be my preferred route but assuming it costs even $50-60 bucks I'd rather...

    Swapping a 1990 Radiator into a 1999

THanks for the suggestions. I found a couple threads that discuss splicing in a "t" and cap in the upper hose also. Sounds cheap and easy, but if I do this do I have to also remove the current resevoir and add a pressure bottle? It seems like this is what is being suggested but I don't get...

    Swapping a 1990 Radiator into a 1999

1999 XJ, I6, AW4, 231, AC, Tranny cooler... My 1999's rad is starting to leak a bit, I have given it a thorough look but I've been thinking about swapping the HD rad that I pulled off my 1990 XJ before I retired it. It's the OEM HD type but with the steel tanks and 3row(?). It was hard to...

Airbag light, no blinkers, and no HVAC???

99XJ I6 AW4 NP231 A/C Some weird shit going on when I left work tonight. I first noticed that the fan and heater controls were not working after about 1-2 minutes. I know they worked when I first turned the engine over. Next I noticed the the airbag light stayed on for all of the 15min...

FYI!!! the 136 amp ZJ alt swap dont work on 99+ XJ's

What year is your XJ? I understand the bracket needs to be ground down and the wiring boot changed out....but there is definately a difference between with the 99's and newer. I can't find anything on any of the boards but, if you look at PNs listed on supplier sites they split at the...

    Coolant Froze...what to do next

An FYI / caution for those wondering what happened here... My best guess is that I when I did the flush in the fall I didn't get all the water out...I estimate there was about 2-2.5liters left in there. When I do the math (compensating for what blew out and the straight glycol I added) this...

Wiring house for a Hobart 180?

I finally convinced the boss and am getting one for xmas. I'm looking for information on what would be involved in getting my house wired up for this; I don't need step-by-step details, just the basics. I'd like to have a permanent outdoor receptical to plug into. I have a cement pad in the...

    Coolant Froze...what to do next

Thanks for replys. After doing some figuring I think my ratio was 65 water to 35 coolant. I have it at 70/30 now and it tests to -46 celcius or thereabouts. There definately was a leak at the front freeze plug, it also doubles as a block heater (see pic below). I added a can of that Barr's...

    Coolant Froze...what to do next

I've read all related posts; looking for any additional information specific to my case. 99 XJ I6 AW4 While out of town on training I suspect that the coolant froze over. Temperatures were quite cold, dropping to -37 degrees celcius (without windchill). Here are the details I received from...
