Been a long while since I posted on any forum, but got a problem with my 1999 238,000 mile XJ 4.0L.
While replacing the floor pans I replaced the NSS since I had to wiggle the shifter to start and to get reverse lights to come on sometimes.
Shortly after my check engine lights comes...
I am all for the 4BT, got one in my CJ, and have a second originally intended to go into a Grand Wagoneer, now thinking XJ.
The biggest limitation to the 4BT IMO is the height of the engine, about 34" tall from bottom of oil pan to top of valve covers, add an intercooler and it becomes a bit...
Finding one does not seem too easy. This is the cheapest whole car I found, if only an engine was found I would still need a computer, correct? http://newhaven.craigslist.org/cto/1427928055.html
99.5+ is the TDI, no? I wonder how difficult wiring would be, my 4BT runs on a single wire. :D
Those would be my transmissions of choice auto, manual respectively. It may be involved to get the electronically controlled trans to work with this. :dunno:
I am due for another diesel swap [for a DD] :D , on the fence about which vehicle tho.
